Adaware, a product of cybersecurity provider Lavasoft, (formerly known as Ad-Aware) is designed to stop the kinds of privacy-related threats and rogue applications that many users are not aware. Adaware is a suite of programs that monitor your browsing habits, applications that reroute the browser start page and applications that show annoying advertisements at the most inconvenient times. This free program offers several features that increase your device’s security and ensure that it runs smoothly.
In our tests, adaware was able to identify the majority of the malware we put at it. However, it had difficulty getting rid of certain malware. The program comes with a number of helpful extras such as a privacy watcher, a registry scanner, a file shredder, and advanced monitoring of networks. Adaware doesn’t provide as much protection as the top antivirus software.
Adaware’s last participation in AV Test tests in the lab resulted in a blockage of only 95. 4% of 0-day risks and 97% of known threats. They’re not bad however they’re not even close to the best security suites.
Adaware users who want better performance should consider alternatives. We suggest Kaspersky, Bitdefender and others because they are known for their reliability in real-world tests. Some users might be disappointed that only users of the Pro and Total plans have access to online customer and technical support. The company does offer a range of information and frequently asked questions on its website, though.
