Avast antivirus protection
Avast is one of the biggest names in cybersecurity industry. It has a track record of high-quality malware detection and web protection and offers many other security features, including an automatic boot-time scan and a virtual desktop. The software also works on multiple devices and includes an absolutely free VPN service.
It is available in three different plan types namely Protection, Privacy and Performance based on the number of devices you need to protect. In addition to PCs, it is installed on Mac and Android devices.
Avast detected all malware on the systems that we test. This is quite an accomplishment considering that the program detects over 1.5 billion threats every month.
The software’s quick boot-time scanning is another feature worth mentioning. It checks your system for potentially risky files before Windows loads. In my tests that took less than an hour to run the full scan on a typical PC with Windows 10.
The Avast product also includes several other security tools designed to protect your data. Its Sensitive Document Shield can be used to identify sensitive documents like invoices, tickets and resumes. It did not find any sensitive files on the computer I tested it on. However, it did detect sensitive documents.
Avast also has an email Guardian that can scan your email account for suspicious attachments as well as phishing links. It also offers the feature of Bank Mode that provides a virtual desktop protected from keystroke loggers, screenshot attempts as well as other malicious applications. Avast has a solid privacy policy. The company claims that it only collects information that is needed to protect, and its analytics business Jumpshot only sells the data to large corporations after it has been “de-identified.”
