Bitdefender is one of the top Mac antivirus program. It has a high level of malware detection and a host of other useful security features. It’s not without problems.
The default interface for the suite is easy to navigate, and it has features in 3 categories: Protection privacy, Utilities, and Protection. The Protection tab is mainly devoted to features you’d expect from an antivirus program, such as real time scanning, firewall monitoring and countermeasures against ransomware. The Privacy tab discusses ways to remain safe on the internet, such as a secure web browser which runs websites in a sandbox in order to block malware from infecting your standard browser. And the Utilities tab is about optimization tools as well as an application that shreds files with exclusive algorithms and renders them unrecoverable if they are deleted.
Premium plans also come with a password manager, as well as an option called “Anti-Tracker” which can block web services from tracking you discover here too often. The program also comes with a vulnerability scan that can detect outdated apps or passwords that are weak, as well as Windows updates that haven’t yet been applied. It also has a speedy customized scan that takes just five minutes, which is much more quickly than competitors like Norton and TotalAV.
The only drawback to the application is its slow install process which can be a hassle for those who want to begin immediately. The “Reveal in the Finder” feature of the app doesn’t work. This is an odd omission from an antivirus app which competes with other products which can accomplish the same task in just a few clicks.
